Announced in March 2019 An anime adaptation of High Score Girl was sown by J.C.Staff and SMDE that premiered from July to September 2018. Later in early 2019 it was announced that their was gonna be 3 special O.V.A's under the name "High Score Girl: Extra Stage" with all three being airing on March 20, 2019 under round 13,14 and 15. It was announced by Square Enix in March 2019 that the second, and last, season would Aire in October and ended the show on December 2019. The story revolves around the life of gamer Haruo Yaguchi, the coin-op gaming setting, most known for his love of Fighting games, the changes that develop within both over time, and his relationship with quiet female gamer Akira Ono.
Difference Between the Manga[]
- Unlike the manga, the anime choose to only focuses on the main story, being Haruo and Ono relationship, choosing to cut out the extra chapters
- Because of this Characters Hidaka, Miyao and even Yaguchi Namie chapter story's and development was cut out and the character were side lined in favor for the romance.
