Round 18 is the eighteenth episode of the Hi Score Girl (anime).
Netflix Synopsis[]
Representing Shibuya, Haruo faces players from Mizonokuchi, including Koharu, in a 10-person Street Fighter Zero 2 arcade battle.
Summary[]
While playing a game of Astro City, a livid Makoto approaches Haruo and socks him in the head. The two then talk about how Haruo has become a Shibuyan hoodlum and how Akira trains in the SF II Alpha game with Zangief. Ruminating how Akira has been polishing her skills with Alpha, Haruo thinks he too has to keep his game up too, or else he'll continue lagging behind her. Makoto then asks when SF III will come out and then notes how the long wait for the game to come out is tantamount to the progress Haruo's with Akira. Although Haruo thinks that the notion is dumb, Makoto believes differently and drags him out of the arcade center. Before they leave, they run into the Shibuya gamers who invite them for some karaoke and Makoto joins them causing a disastrous scene. They later go to Tower Records, to Haruo's dismay who wanted to practice for the upcoming tournament.
Back in Haruo's hometown, Jīya with Akira run into Haruo's Mother. Jīya who reinstated as Akira's chauffer due to Haruo Mother's good word. Later in Akira's Mansion, Makoto has a hissy fit over how Moemi burnt the clothes she got at Shibuya. She then talks with Akira a bit about Shibuya and how Haruo fled there because he was ostracized in Mizokunichi. Makoto promises Akira that she'll bring Haruo back and informs her about the upcoming tournament between the gamers in Shibuya and Mizokunichi.
On the day of the tournament, Koharu meets with Haruo there and a scene is had between them and a girl named Mayumayu. This triggers Koharu and she goes first in the tournament, eliminating all of her opponents in Virtua Fighter 2, including Haruo. During the tournament matches, Akira arrives at the arcade center. After the first round of the tournament, both Haruo and Koharu talk about their match together and Koharu's apprehensive nature toward Mayumayu. Koharu then asks Haruo on a date as she did beat him in a game, to which, Haruo begrudgingly agrees. Back inside the arcade center, the Shibuya gamers talk about Koharu's abrupt revelation of her being Haruo's boyfriend. It's also there that a girl beats Global Champion with Marco.
Due to an accident involving lightning, the trains running back to Mizokunichi are out of commission for an unknown duration. Instead of taking a taxi home, Koharu suggests they stay in Shibuya for the night. Meanwhile, Akira overhears the Shibuya gamers talk about how Haruo secretly eloped with Koharu. At a restaurant, Koharu and Haruo talk with each other. While Haruo wants to talk about games, Koharu wants to talk about relationships while teasing Haruo.
The following day, Koharu embraces Haruo and reveals all of her pent up emotions to him. Completely flustered by the situation, he then spots Akira standing close by witnessing the entire scene.
