Round 7 is the seventh episode of the Hi Score Girl (anime).

Netflix Synopsis[]

Eager to play with Haruo, Hidaka buys a copy of Final Fight for the Super Famicon console. Haruo and class head to Kyoto for an overnight school trip.

Summary[]

In hopes to have Haruo come over her house and play games with her, her parents get Koharu an SNES and Final Fight. Her hopes, however, are crushed as Haruo wants to simply borrow it, to which, she refuses. Soon, Akira passes by and as Kōtarō talks about her Haruo remembers her 111 win streak in SF II. While Haruo and Kōtarō talk about Akira, Koharu notes how connected she though Haruo and Akira were from what she saw. Koharu then mentions to Haruo that Akira may have been the one that won against her in the arcade when he took his place. Hearing this leaves Haruo astounded, while Kōtarō disbelieves its credibility.

During lunchtime, Haruo spends his time eating his lunch in the school basketball court while reading a Gamest magazine. Eventually, Haruo watches as a student named Kenji and his two friends approach Akira to confess his feelings for her. However, her tacit nature gives off a rejecting notion. This causes Kenji to snap at Haruo who demands to know his relationship with Akira. His answer, however, is detrimental and Akira lividly walks away from the scene. Haruo catches up to her, but instead of apologizing, he asks her how to unlock the hidden character in SF II. Akira, though, gives no answer.

Afterschool, Haruo practices at the arcade center as Kōtarō watches and confesses his plans to ask Akira out. This revelation shocks Haruo who tries to act nonchalant nonetheless. That night, Koharu learns that Final Fight for the SNES is incapable of co-op play.

The day of the trip to Kyoto, it's revealed that Haruo instead of bringing any handheld game systems, he brought a Turbo Grafx instead. As a favor for the motion sickened Numata, Haruo goes to buy him a refreshment at the train stop. He's joined by Koharu and while they gather his drinks, the train heads off. Because the slow train is late due to a rockslide, the two hang out at a local game corner for a while. Later, Haruo finds an assortment of arcade games by a shaved ice shop and they play some co-op games together.

Afterward, they take a bus to Kyoto and reunite with their class at the hotel. In one of the recreation rooms, Haruo finds Akira there and he tells her of his excursion with Koharu. She becomes notably angry because of this and slaps him with her ponytail. To mitigate his anger, Haruo plans to play some Bomberman with his friends, but their teacher Reiko confiscates the game and the system.
