Round 8 is the eighth episode of the Hi Score Girl (anime).
Netflix Synopsis[]
With tours of historic landmarks over for the day, Haruo sneaks off alone to the city of Osaka to compete in the Super Street Fighter II X tournament.
Summary[]
Just outside a temple, Teacher Reiko informs her students that they're allowed to go about their own business for the rest of the day. Kōtarō tells Haruo that he's going to confess his feelings to Akira later that day. Furthermore, Kōtarō admits that if Akira rejects him, he hopes they can still be friends. Kōtarō then asks Haruo, what are Akira's interests, but he feigns ignorance and in turn, asks for help to sneak away to attend a SF II tournament in Osaka. Koharu then approaches the two and suspects Haruo is planning to play more arcade games, to which, he vaguely confirms.
Taking a train to the tournament location, Haruo makes it to the tournament, but is astounded to learn that Akira is also there. Resolved to fight his matches cleanly using Guile, Haruo manages to win his way into the finals where he's able to once again face off against Akira. In the end, Haruo manages to win the tournament and get a large trophy for his effort, however, it's later learned that Akira's buttons were busted during her match. Afterward, Haruo confronts Akira for fighting him with a handicap and she beats him up every time he tries to approach her. Although badly bruised, Haruo confesses how much he's missed Akira since she's been gone. He then sees that she wears the ring that he gave her as a charm on a necklace.
The two then clean and change themselves up at a local restroom and continue their way back to the hotel they were staying at. They run into Kōtarō there and Haruo explains the situation to Kōtarō who then suggests they head to their room and call it a night.
On the train ride home, Koharu notes the bruises on his face, but he brushes it off and surprisingly talks about his consideration for his future.
